Grant MacEwan United World College (UWC) Scholarships

The Grant MacEwan United World College Scholarship provides full scholarships for students to live and study for two years at a United World College (UWC) and complete the International Baccalaureate Program. Colleges that Alberta scholarship recipients are typically eligible for are located in Canada, the USA, Hong Kong, Norway, Wales, Italy, India. Each college has a distinct character and identity, influenced by their locality in either urban or rural settings and each reflects cultural elements of its host community. The student body is made up of students from around the world.

United World College (UWC) schools and programmes were created to promote international understanding through education, service and social responsibility. UWC delivers a challenging and transformative educational experience to a diverse cross-section of students, inspiring them to create a more peaceful and sustainable future. These scholarships were named in honour of the late Dr. J.W. Grant MacEwan and administered by Student Aid Alberta.

Value: Tuition, room and board and one return trip home per year. Each scholarship covers both years of the program.

Eligibility Criteria: Applicants must be Alberta residents between the ages of 16 and 17 and-a-half. Applicants are normally in the process of completing Grade 11.

Selection Process: Recipients are evaluated by a selection committee. Scholarships are awarded based on students' academic record, breadth of study, personal accomplishments, community involvement and interests in UWC goals.
